Do you ever find yourself mindlessly scrolling through social media for an extended period of time?
30 minutes goes by and all you did was compare your life to Nancy’s, which is a waste of time and energy.
In that 30 minutes, you could have done something way more productive such as meditate, journal, read a book, listen to a podcast and the list goes on and on! But, you didn’t because your original plan was to just check your messages and then it was off to the races.
Here’s the thing: we all have busy schedules, commitments and appointments to attend. BUT, sometimes we just don’t use our time wisely. The thing about self-care is you have to COMMIT to it and CARVE out time for it because it’s important for your health & overall well-being.
Here are ways to incorporate self-care into your daily routine:
Drink water: I guess you don’t associate drinking water as “self-care,” do you? Well, FYI, water is an important element needed to take care of your body, your brain, and to being a healthier and happier you. So, add some citrus to make it less boring.
Listen to a podcast while driving: whether you have a long or short commute, listen to an inspirational podcast to get into a positive mindset. This is a great way to detox after a long and stressful day.
Go for a walk. I’m sure you have 10 minutes to spare during the day to go for a quick walk. This will help your mind and you’ll end up feeling more productive.
Meditate for 10 minutes: Shut your office door, ask your significant other to watch your kids for just 10 minutes so you can meditate. They have plenty of apps and youtube videos to follow!
Bring a healthy snack or lunch. Feeling good starts with eating healthy. When you eat foods that actually FILL you and not what I call “filler” snacks such as processed food, chips, cookies, candy, you’ll feel more energized and less sluggish.
