Have You Tried green fetish?

I walked into green fetish in Downtown Greenville a few weeks ago after a friend suggested we meet there for lunch. I heard of the restaurant back in April and looked forward to its opening ever since!

Get this: organic, farm-to-table, fast-casual restaurant that serves locally-sourced food + provides vegan/vegetarian options! It was right up my alley and when my friend asked what I was ordering, I told her EVERYTHING looks good! I simply cannot decide.

After several minutes of looking over the menu, I decided on Buddha’s Feast, which consisted of arugula, brown rice, tofu, tomatoes, chickpeas, sweet potatoes, avocado + thai peanut dressing. Let’s say that it was filling and you could tell everything was fresh! I even tried to re-create this dish a few days later and it didn’t even compare to green fetish’s!

I decided to chat with the owner, Chris Yun, who is backed by the family that operates Lieu’s Chinese Bistro and both locations of Otto Izakaya to lean more about his restaurant!

What separates you from the rest of the pack of restaurants?

The biggest difference between green fetish from other restaurants is first and foremost, quality. green fetish's slightly higher prices comes from the organic, all natural products that we utilize. A friend once taught me the importance of eating organic produce and how harmful pesticides were; he said, "if bugs don't eat it, why can we?"

That lesson stuck with me and I wanted to make it convenient for everyone to We also do not use any processed sugar, but rather natural forms such as agave, dates, maple syrup, and honey. We limit allergens when cooking our food by using minimal ingredients to stay true to the food. green fetish is also very proud to be all gluten-free.

How did this concept of serving organic, farm to table food come about?

This concept came about through my new eating habits. I was overweight and I decided to eat healthy to correct my health. Just by eating the right foods, I was able to lose weight and I wanted to help spread good, clean food to others. I feel that it's important for people to eat healthy and take care of their body, as well as take care of the earth that we live in; that is why green fetish uses all compostable products.

Why should people eat at your restaurant?

People should eat at green fetish because we really want everyone to be happy, healthy, and feel good about what they are eating. You never have to worry about dining at green fetish because you'll know how much care we put into each ingredient and every bowl. There's no other restaurant around us that can serve quality meals at a fast pace.

You Gotta Try Hare & Field -- Like ASAP!

“I have a reservation for 5:30 on our anniversary,” I informed my husband a few days before our 2-year anniversary. I didn’t tell him where, just the fact that we were going out to eat at one of the restaurants we’ve been wanting to try since it opened in March.

It took us 30 minutes to get to Hare & Field in Travelers Rest, but it was worth every ounce of gas.

When we walked in, there was a table with a RESERVED sign that was for us, so we sat down. Upon being seated, we were greeted by a friendly waitress, who was very knowledgeable and sweet.

We asked our waitress what she recommended and we were told their Fish & Chips, Shrimp & Grits were popular. But, my husband was in the mood for a burger, so he ordered the Diablo Burger, which he noted was zesty. On the side, he ordered rabbit soup, which he described as having an earthy and flavorful broth. He also ordered a beer. Now, my hubby is not a beer drinker, but he said you didn’t get the rubbing alcohol taste like most beers. Instead, it was smooth, slightly fruity and bubbly.

I went for the “Go To” Vegan Burger with fries, which by the way were TO DIE FOR! The best part about this place is EVERYTHING is made from scratch, in-house and they hardly use their freezer. You can tell the difference between fresh ingredients vs “convenient foods” aka pre-packaged processed foods.

Now, getting back to the the vegan burger, it has the same consistency as a regular burger, but doesn’t taste exactly like a beef burger because it’s made from plants. It was really good, but for people who want beef, I probably wouldn’t recommend it. But, for me, it tasted delicious and had all the toppings I love! And, the FRIES, omg! They were crisped to perfection and again were fresh.

For dessert, we ordered their Smores cake. Ya’ll - I’m partially lactose intolerance, but this cake was so worth a few bites. It was moist, sweet and the filling was even creamier. It was seriously heaven on a plate and I wished I could have more, but I didn’t want to piss my stomach off.

I would HIGHLY recommend making a trip to Travelers Rest to check out this restaurant ASAP! They seriously know how to make good food and treat their customers right! I would go again in a heartbeat.

This Skin Care is Literally Life-Changing

Are you looking for natural, organic and healthy skin products? Look no further because Toya Stanitzek who sells Herb & Earth Soaps has something for YOU. My husband purchased skin products for me for Valentine's Day and they have DEFINITELY been improving my skin. My pores have gotten smaller and my face is less oily and greasy.

So, I wanted to share these products with you in hopes that you can buy these products and get better looking skin!

I wanted to chat with Toya regarding her products and conduct a Q & A!

Hope: How long have you been selling them?

Toya: I've been selling products for 4 years now.

H: How long do they take to make?

T: When I started making products, it was during a time when I was becoming more aware of the importance of foods I was eating. I was eating a paleo diet and began growing my own fruits and vegetables. What you eat completely affects the health of your body. Then I started to research how the products you use on your body are just as important. Anything you put on your body, your body absorbs. At the time, my son had eczema and I was wanting to treat it more naturally than with all those products that still contained so many chemicals. That's when I created my first goat milk soap. At the time there were only a few soap makers in the area that offered a very small variety of product. My goal became to be a one-stop, all natural bath and beauty company.

H: What made you decide to start selling them?

T: I offer a vast array of product that take various levels of time to create. Since I've been making soap for 4 years, I've gotten a lot more efficient with my time. To just make 200 bars of soap takes a total of about 4 hours. Then I have to let them set for a day in their molds. Then I have to take the time to pop them out of their 8 load molds, hand cut my loaves into individual bars, and then carefully stack them like dominos on the shelves to cure for 4-6 weeks. Once they're done curing, I hand cut all my labels and spend the time to label them all. It's a labor of love.

H: Why should other people buy your products?

T: I really wanted to offer all natural, safe, nourishing products that even your average, middle class individual could afford. I also wanted to create a business that gives back to the community by using other local farmers' products in my ingredients. I wanted to empower my community to give back to those in their community by way of a donation program through purchases as well. I offer various ways to give back through your purchases such as when you buy 4 bars of soap, I donate a bar of soap to a local shelter on your behalf.

So when you shop Herb & Earth, you get safe, all natural, amazing bath and beauty products that contain local ingredients from here in SC. Not only do you get to support your local community through your purchases, but you also support my 3 beautiful children, my husband, and myself.
